Now the Pine Breeze Inn faces only a dead-end stretch of Route 66 (located on the south side of I40, east of Exit 185).

Brannigan Park. The highest point on the entire Route 66 (7,425 feet in elevation) is in this area.

A forest service Route 66 Auto Tour sign invites you to walk this section of the 1931 alignment east of Parks.

As it has for decades, the Parks Store continues to be a place to stop and rest a while (located just west of I40 exit 178).

Pittman Valley: This huge log cabin was formerly the Wagon Wheel Lodge, and is now a private ranch (located just east of I40 exit 171).

This Auto Tour sign at exit 171 tells the story of the alignment through Pittmann Valley: built in 1931, paved in 1939, bypassed by Interstate 40 in 1964.

The Deer Farm, having opened in 1969, is a relatively recent tourist trap (located just west of I40 exit 171).

Davenport Lake.

Looking back to the San Francisco Peaks, along a straight stretch east of Williams (Mountain Man Trail, southwest of I-40 exit 167). On the left is Humphreys Peak, highest point in Arizona at 12,633 feet.

This segment just east of Williams dead-ends where I40 was built on top of the old alignment.
