Giant Baby

Goodyear, Arizona

If you drive Interstate 10 west of Phoenix, you may find yourself startled by an odd sight: a 20-foot-tall baby sitting in a field next to the freeway, playing with two tractors! No, you're not hallucinating -- these are blowups of actual photos, mounted on plywood frames and placed in the field to advertise tours at the nearby Duncan Family Farms. Nearby are several other larger-than-life cutouts, as seen in the photos below.

Directions: The baby is on the north side of Interstate 10, 1/2 mile east of Exit 124 (Cotton Lane). The cutouts shown in the second photo are nearby, on the northwest corner of Cotton Lane and McDowell Road. The cutout in the third photo is farther west, by the Goodyear Market Place.

Last visited: March 2008, March 2010. Update April 2011: The cutout in the third photo, and the Goodyear Market Place itself, are now gone. Update June 2013: The giant baby cutout is reportedly now gone due to construction.
