I've been into a lot of caves, but I think this one has the most interesting gate of all. A giant spider in its web plays the part of the mythological threshold guardian. The photo below shows how the center of the spiderweb pivots to allow entrance to the unknown realms of the underworld, but only for those who are brave and pure of heart (and have paid for a tour ticket!).
Directions: Crystal Cave is located in the center of Sequoia National Park; the paved access road branches off from the Generals Highway about 2 miles south of Giant Forest.
