World's Largest Kachina

[bizarre_kachina.jpg]

Carefree, Arizona

This 39-foot-tall reinforced concrete kachina silently stares out over the desert, at the entrance to the Tonto Hills housing development. Just in case you would care to have it in YOUR back yard, there's a "For Sale" sign at the base of the statue. Supposedly the asking price is $400,000 -- don't ask me if transportation costs are included!

Directions: One block west of Cave Creek Road on Old Mine Road; easily visible from Cave Creek Road.

Last visited: November 2008.

Below are a couple more giant kachinas, although neither one is nearly as tall as the Carefree kachina. Last visited: October 2009.
