This miniature mining town is a model railroad display in the Douglas Mansion, which serves as the visitor center / museum for Jerome State Historic Park. Also on display (see picture below) is a scale model of the town of Jerome which was constructed in 1937 and shows the miles of mine tunnels which honeycomb the interior of Cleopatra Hill underneath the town.
Directions: The town of Jerome is 5 miles west of Cottonwood, Arizona, all on paved roads. Jerome State Historic Park is adjacent to the town; a small entrance fee is charged. Update (November 2009): Due to state budget shortfalls, Jerome State Historic Park is now closed to the public for an indefinite time.
Last visited: October 2006.
