One rarely finds a ghost town that is completely abandoned, but was vacated recently enough that the buildings have not been thoroughly vandalized. Arizona's 96 Ranch is such a place. In a remote desert canyon, several buildings stand in a state of rustic disrepair ... full of reminders that this was once a lived-in place, but now is home only to the wind.
Last Visited: January 2016. Directions: 96 Ranch is located southeast of Florence, Arizona, in the Ninetysix Hills. Access is via Highway 79 and 96 Ranch Road (aka Smoke Road), a dirt road that should be passable to all vehicles in fair weather. The site is open to the public, but a sign asks that visitors not vandalize the buildings.
