Step into the past with a self-guided walking tour of Fort Verde State Historic Park. Fort Verde served as a U.S. Army fort from 1865-1890, during the Indian Wars. Four of the original buildings still stand: the fort's Administration building now contains the park visitor center and museum, while the three buildings along "Officers' Row" are restored with 1880's furnishings.
Fort Verde State Historic Park is located in the town of Camp Verde in central Arizona, and is reached via a few miles of paved roads from Interstate 17. The park is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. every day, except closed on Christmas Day. For details visit the Fort Verde State Historic Park web site.
