29 years after my first visit to Mogollon, I stood in the exact same spot to photograph this building. Mogollon is one of New Mexico's finest ghost towns, and has many authentic buildings -- but this isn't one of them! It was constructed as a set for the 1974 movie My Name is Nobody, starring Henry Fonda and Terence Hill (this building can be seen 27 minutes into the movie, which is available on DVD). This building was also featured on the front cover of the first edition of Philip Varney's book New Mexico's Best Ghost Towns.

In the early 1900's, Mogollon had over 2000 residents, supported by the rich gold and silver mines in the surrounding Mogollon Mountains. Mogollon is located 13 miles northeast of Glenwood, New Mexico, and is reached via paved Highways 180 and 159. While the town is open to the public, many of the buildings are occupied; please respect the privacy of the residents.
