Many times the most interesting views can be seen away from the crowds and official Scenic Viewpoints, and by looking more closely. On the road approaching the popular overlook of Yosemite Valley at Glacier Point, I noticed this view of Half Dome (which I have been on top of twice on other trips) with its 2000-foot sheer face seen nearly edge-on. A 200-mm telephoto lens isolated Half Dome from the panorama of waterfalls and granite peaks; the dead trees in the foreground and the overcast skies give the image a certain melancholy.
Scanned by Rick Scott using a Nikon Coolscan 35mm film scanner.
