The trail to the top of Half Dome is long and steep, but rewards the hiker with some of the most stunning scenery in the world. Those who dare to push their luck right to the edge can get a bird's-eye view of Yosemite Valley, some 4000 feet below. In this particular photo, the daring mountaineer is my brother Mike. In the background is the profile of another sheer granite monolith, El Capitan.
