Geminid Fireball

The Geminid Meteor shower occurs every year around December 13. For 2004 the shower occurred at new moon, the weather was clear in Arizona, and the Geminids put on a good show. This photo captured one of the brightest meteors of the evening, streaking across the northern sky -- the star at far left center is Polaris.

Location: near Florence Junction, Arizona.
Camera: Olympus OM-1 35mm SLR on homemade tracking mount.
