House of the Rising Moon

With the stars of the constellation Auriga above, the gibbous moon rises behind an abandoned cabin. A 5-minute exposure while the moon was still behind the cabin silhouetted the cabin and horizon; later a 2-second exposure captured the moon itself, by then risen clear of the roofline.

Time: 9:56 to 10:01 p.m. (5 minute exposure), plus 10:31 p.m. (additional 2 second exposure) MST
Location: Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Arizona
Camera: Olympus OM-1 35mm SLR on fixed tripod
Film: Fuji Provia 100F slide
Focal length: 40 mm
Aperture: f/4
Exposure time: 5 minutes (lighting front and side of cabin with flashlight), cover lens for 30 minutes, then another 2 seconds
Scanner: Nikon Coolscan LS-2000
