Earthshine Moon

When the moon is a thin crescent in the evening twilight sky, only a couple of days past new, look for faint illumination revealing the "dark" part of the moon above the brightly lit crescent. This beautiful and delicate glow is called Earthshine because this part of the moon is actually illuminated by sunlight reflected off the far side of the Earth, which is still in daylight.
