This charming structure is the Atmospheric Research Observatory, a historical landmark located on the campus of Northern Arizona University. The building was constructed in 1952 under the supervision of Dr. Arthur Adel, a professor at Arizona State College at Flagstaff (as NAU was then known). The facility, which houses a 24-inch cassegrain reflector, is used by NAU students for labs and independent research.
The Northern Arizona Astronomy Association holds a weekly open house at the observatory.
