This certificate was presented to NASA employees in 1981 to commemorate the first flight of the space shuttle Columbia, which carried a crew of two. Commander John W. Young (1930- ) flew on two Gemini, two Apollo, and two Space Shuttle missions; on Apollo 16 he became the ninth person to walk on the Moon. Pilot Robert L. Crippen (1937- ) flew on a total of four Space Shuttle missions.
