Moonlight Superstitions

[stars_061104_07.jpg]
"It is hard to follow one great vision in this world of darkness and of many changing shadows. Among those shadows men get lost."
-- Black Elk, Sioux holy man, "Black Elk Speaks"

A full moon and distant city lights illuminated this nighttime view of the Superstition Mountains, home of the legendary Lost Dutchman Mine. The Superstitions got their name because they were a fearful place in Apache tales, and with their looming, foreboding presence they certainly fit their name on this night. The bright star on the right is Fomalhaut, in the constellation Piscis Austrinus.
