Orion Belt and Sword

[stars_13.jpg]

This photo shows the rich central region of the constellation of Orion the Hunter. The three evenly-spaced bright stars at left form Orion's belt; immediately to the left of the lower star in the belt can be faintly seen the Flame Nebula. The hunter's sword (or scabbard) extends from the belt to the lower right; its most prominent feature is the magnificent Orion Nebula.
